The Chicago Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Jeff Lindberg, presents “Definitively Dizzy,” a concert in celebration of the centennial of Dizzy Gillespie. Roy Hargrove, one of the most innovative players in the world, will join Marquis Hill, a rising jazz star, Walter White, a powerhouse trumpeter from Detroit, and a CJO Trumpet section consisting of Danny Barber, Victor Garcia, Art Davis, and Doug Scharf for a Dizzy celebration that is uniquely CJO. Hear an array of Dizzy classics like “Manteca,” “Cool Breeze,” “Salt Peanuts,” and many more in the newly renovated Studebaker Theater. This hidden gem on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue (410 S. Michigan Ave) provides a setting for an unforgettable evening of big band jazz. TICKETS
This concert is presented by the Oppenheimer Family Foundation, the Stare Fund, and Ray and Ann Rusnak. This project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts. Media sponsorship for the Chicago Jazz Orchestra is provided by Chicago Jazz Magazine and WDCB 90.9 FM.
